About Becky La Plante, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac, M.T.O.M.
In her private practice in Canton and Granby Connecticut, Becky merges the mind, body, and spirit healing arts of Classical Five Element Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with Niasziih Healing. Depending on each patient's needs, she will use other modalities such as moxibustion, medical qi gong, herbal medicine, acupressure, E-Stimulation, TDP mineral lamp therapy, gua sha, cupping, Reiki and sound healing. She is also an Allied Health Practitioner through Saint Francis Hospital in Simsbury and Hartford Connecticut.
Becky's goal is to work as a partner with her patients and to assist them in finding the tools to both heal and maintain the healing of themselves. She will use acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to influence the Qi (Energy) in properly flowing, removing blockages and re-establishing the body's rhythm with it's natural cycles and the cycles of nature along with breathing, guided meditation, homework and the various healing modalities mentioned above to help with this process.
During the treatments, she will help them to find awareness of their body in the present moment, and to acknowledge and witness how their feelings, thoughts, beliefs and patterns have a connection to their body and may be contributing to their disease and physical illness. Sometimes physical pain and illness is just a physical problem, but being open to addressing your healing in a holistic, bio-psycho-social way (addressing the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of a disease) can quicken the healing process. True healing requires choice, action, and a shift in perspective and lifestyle.
Becky is licensed in both California and Connecticut and is certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as Diplomate of Acupuncture (NCCAOM) and is credentialed through Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford Connecticut. She is Summa Cum Laude graduate of a four year Master’s Degree Program at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Emperor's rated #2 out of the 20 best schools for Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Chinese Medicine. http://www.thebestschools.org/rankings/best-acupuncture-schools-us/. During her last year at Emperor's, Becky also completed a one year graduate program in Classical Five Element Acupuncture at The Institute of Classical Five Element Acupuncture.
Starting in 1998, Becky's journey on the healing path began studying with Tom Brown Jr.'s The Tracker School for nature awareness, survival and the philosophy of living with the earth and she continued to practice these philosophy skills as she studied Chinese Medicine. After she graduated and was licensed in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, she continued on to study Niasziih Healing at Wilderness Fusion, a school that has stemmed from The Tracker School for those committed to being Healers. She finished her 7 year healing apprenticeship program with Wilderness Fusion in May 2019. How Does Classical Five Element Acupuncture Differ from Other Systems of Acupuncture
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is a complete system of healing, providing patients with a substantive and effective means of regaining balance on all levels. It is one of the safest, most comprehensive and far reaching systems of medicine in the world.
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is set apart from other systems of acupuncture by its fundamental premise of diagnosing and treating a patient's Causative Factor: his/her root imbalance. The Causative Factor is assessed by way of objective information provided by the body itself. Each of the elements has a corresponding color, sound, emotion, and odor, which can be perceived when a particular element is out of balance.
While it is relatively simple to memorize these associations, developing the skills to truly see, hear, feel, and smell these imbalances requires focused study, practice, and skilled guidance. Accurate diagnosis and treatment of the Causative Factor is the key to Classical Five-Element Acupuncture. In addition, this elegant system recognizes that the health of each individual's body, mind, and spirit must be taken into account to fully understand and treat the cause of disease. Thus, no two patients are ever treated the same. Each symptom is seen as a distress signal of the underlying disease. When the cause of the disease is treated, the symptoms will start to disappear.
"Acupuncture does not cure, balance does. We never treat a disease, we treat you." unknown
